Don't ask, Don't tell?
I ran across this article on yahoo talking about the "Don't ask, Don't tell" policy. The U.S military is considering lifting this ban that was in effect since 1933. I feel that this is not a reasonable move.. The military is more just a branch of the government that protects us; it's a symbol of strength also. I believe it's more of an iron clothe that protects us, provides an image to other countries and our enemies that we are a strong, fearless, nation that is not weak by any means. Lifting this ban will weaken that image of a strong force. I do not believe that allowing gays in the military secretly much less openly gives a fierce and strong positive image. When people think of gays, they do not think of tough stand up men. The most portrayed image of gays are feminine, scare, guys who run around in tights and play grab ass. How in the world can an image like that put any kind of fear into an enemy that we are opposing? If anything, they will look at us and laugh and probably make it more likely that we will be attacked. This is just my personal thought and I know that this is not politically correct or maybe not even ethically right. This is just how I was raised and I highly doubt that my thought on this issue will ever change...

No talking on cell phone while driving
There has been possible talk of a new law banning talking on cell phones while driving. This law, if passed, states that if talking on a cell phone while driving, you must be using a handset. From what I understand, the preliminary vote has gone through and the actually vote was going to possibly occur yesterday. I believe this law should be passed. Why you ask? From personal experience, I have witnessed accidents occuring due to the lack of concentration while driving and talking on the cell phone. Many people have lack of driving skills as it is and this would just make people more prone to accidents. It's called multi tasking and not everyone is on that level.. Just because some people are able to talk, text and drive while being aware of their surroundings and how other crazy people drive; such as street racers and other fast and the furious type cars. People need to be able to focus on other vehicles and the road rather then what is going on with their cell phone. Some people may disagree with my perspective on this issue. But just imagine if you have kids in the dcar and you are too busy talking on your cell phone rather then payint better attention to the road. Some idiot swerves into your lane and possible death of ont of your children occurs because you were too busy on your cell phone. Another example, what if you are driving, and once again your kids are in the car, but another vehicle on the road loses control because they are texting or talking on their phone and wrecks into you and possible injuries occur. If you felt that you did not agree with my views on this issue, maybe these example will change your mind.
